The 16442A has thirteen channels:
- Six source/monitor unit (SMU) channels
- Up to three channels can be connected to SMUs by Kelvin connections.
- Two voltage source unit (VSU) channels
- Two voltage monitor unit (VMU) channels
- Two pulse generator unit (PGU) channels
